[Oh, now that's a good look on his face. Flushed and yearning, wanting what he thinks he shouldn't be allowed to take. The concern was charming after how hungrily he fed on his earlier, and especially in light of the way he leans in to lap at the wound on his lips.]
[It would be a simply thing to tell him that he was a demon and wouldn't die from blood loss even if he slit his throat entirely. But where was the fun in that? It was far more satisfying to push his limits and see just how far he could make him fall for a little pleasure.]
[...or a lot of it, considering what Mephisto has in mind.]
Fufu... you should be careful not to underestimate me, you know. [He reaches up to yank open his collar further, exposing more of his neck -- and feeling grateful for the dim fire light, hopefully masking the faint outlines of the scars that litter his body beneath his clothes.]
This offer isn't going to be open forever. So why don't you stop talking and put that mouth of yours to better use?
[ Even if Mephisto would to reveal himself to be a demon, Reign would still worry about taking too much. Perhaps he should be ordered to drink, rather than hesitate and worry his little mind about the consequences.
The man was really pushing Reign's limits, testing the vampire's will to hold back. A whimper slipped up upon seeing that wide expanse of skin. Unfortunately, vampires had rather good eyesight, and though Reign could make out the faint scars marring the otherwise pristine skin, he didn't comment on it. ]
I've gathered as much. You look the type of man whose presence children are often warned to stay away from. [ Reign's tone was teasing, playful even. But he soon shut up as he leaned back in, running gloved fingers over the spot where he could feel the jugular. Without another word, Reign closed his mouth around the spot, fangs sinking in as he took his fill of Mephisto's blood, even allowing a few muffled moans to slip out. ]
[Oh, he can't help but laugh at that -- it wasn't exactly untrue, but it made him profession back home all the more funny. But his laugh quickly breaks into a gasp instead, groaning as be feels that same pain-turned, pleasure sensation from the bite of Reign's teeth.]
[But he'll be giving Reign plenty of reason to moan soon, pulling of his gloves and tossing them aside before resting his hands on his hips again. Even through his clothing, Reign is sure to feel just how sharp those nails must be as he draws them up along his sides -- not enough to tear through his clothes, but plenty to give him an idea of what he had in mind right now.]
[He's starting to feel it too, after all -- that heat pooling below his waist as his pants start to feel a bit too tight. This isn't what he expected when they decided to make camp here, but boy, he's not going to complain.]
[ Hearing that groan was a nice ego boost for Reign, who took his time drinking compared to being an almost glutton during the first bite. He didn't think blood could taste the heavenly, even if he knew the other wasn't entirely human. It was hard to pin down, but Reign decided not to think too much about it.
He tensed briefly at the feel of sharp claws, hoping that Mephisto wouldn't tear through them just yet and instead allow Reign to remove his clothes. Those were quite expensive, all right? Made of excellent quality and workmanship. Where else was Reign going to find more clothes of his style, especially when he didn't have much local money on him?
Either way, Reign drank some more before pulling back, already having had his fill. No point over gorging himself. A trail of blood trickled from the corner of his mouth to slid down his chin, the expression he had on his face one that clearly showed how affected he was by Mephisto's blood. His face and neck flushed red, chest heaving as he panted softly. He swallowed before he managed to find his voice. ]
I know we made a deal for this to be a one time offer, but... may I drink from you again in the future? Not often, of course. Just... an occasional snack.
[ Hah, Mephisto being a snack to a vampire. What a tale that will be.
Even though the puncture wound had once again sealed close, Reign pressed a kiss to the spot, as if thanking this stranger for offering something so rare to him. Of course, he was also aware of a particular bulge pressing against his groin, and Reign couldn't help but press closer, grinding their hardness together. ]
[And seeing as Riku has kindly volunteered to gather some wood, Mephisto will just let him do all the work! Though he's also watching him, noting how he bends down and picks up the wood without having to feel for it--]
[Okay, he can't just not say something.]
If you don't mind satisfying my curiosity -- just what need do you have for a fire? Surely it'll be just as dark with or without it when you're wearing something like that?
[Way to sidestep his actual point!! But okay, maybe he's ~sensitive~ about it.]
Oh, planning to cook us some dinner? [Look at this guy, casually assuming he's being treated.] If you're going fishing, I'd be careful about leaning too close to the water. There's supposed to be sea serpents lurking about in there... ah, and who knows what else, really!
[He isn't particularly ~sensitive~ about it, but he has long realized that people will ask him fewer questions, if he pretends to be just that. He doesn't mind the assumption either, just nodding – yes, he's feeling a little hungry and it would be rude just to get something for himself and leave his companion to fend for himself.
The tip about the sea serpents is useful enough, but Riku is sure enough of himself that he'll be able to deal with those.]
Well, there is no way I'm going to get us any fish without getting close to the water. I'll just have to take the risk of encountering those serpents. Or anything else.
Oh no, not at all! I don't have any plans to be spoiled, after all.
[It's not a complete lie. He doesn't have any master plans or plots for great mischief -- but he does have a few "side projects" he'd like to see to the end. He needs to see more of this world before he can start planning for the greater picture of what his life will look like from now on.]
[Not that he expects Shura to believe him. He could give her every reason in the world to think he meant no harm, and she'd still be waiting with a knife at his neck the moment he slips up. But that's just a part of what made her so interesting.]
But that doesn't mean I want to risk letting you spoil all the fun I've been having.
You see, to most of the people here, I'm a mild-mannered wizard named Faust. Only a handful of people are aware of the name Mephisto Pheles, and far less are aware that I'm a demon. And I'd like to keep it that way.
[The day Shura believes that Mephisto isn't somehow twisting the truth to suit his needs is the day... No, it's not going to happen. No need to pull out some kind of figure of speech for that.
His explanation has her near about to roll her eyes. Okay, so he was going around deceiving some poor humans. Someone more righteous than her might feel inclined to want to stop him or try to protect the humans he's fooling. But frankly, Shura doesn't care. This was that different from home how? Without any strong attachment to many people here, she's not inclined to exert more effort than she has to. If it kept him busy and out of her hair, then so be it.]
Whatever. I'll call you Faust in public if that makes you feel better.
My, you're more agreeable than I thought you'd be! Perhaps I have nothing to worry about after all.
[No, he absolutely still has reason to worry. Shura may not be the sort to allow herself to get close to others, and even now following her Important Haircut™, that's not liable to change overnight--]
[But he's almost positive that Shura might have a few things to say about him sleeping in a 16 year old girl's bed as her pet dog. And Shura is absolutely the kind of person he knows Yona would be drawn to! He has to account for every possibility here!!]
[He turns and tilts up his hat, looking entirely too at ease despite the conversation.]
Ah, but you know... I prefer a bit more security than a simple halfhearted assurance. I wouldn't be opposed to adding a bit of incentive to ensure that you keep your word.
[ She wants to tell him to buzz off and take what she's offering him. She doesn't. It would just be nice to not have to fuss with demons and their deals for a whole ten minutes. He doesn't trust her much either if he feels like he has to bribe her into compliance.]
Just what kind of favor are you offering, huh? Maybe I should just ask for that, a favor when I need one.
[ One that she'd almost rather die than call in, but whatever. ]
[Meanwhile Mephisto will take his time, totally teasing her by making her wait when he knows how much she wants to see what he's going to transform into. And yet... is it strange that he's excited to show her, too? He's trying not to overthink it right now.]
[Leisurely, he walks out of the ship with his arms neatly folded behind his back.]
Hm... it seems we are quite a ways from Wyver. I managed to get a good look while we were still in the air, so we simply need to choose a path to take...
[He's acting like he forgot all about it, but the grin slowly spreading over his face says he's doing this on purpose still.]
Ah, spells like your little floating trick? It sounds very useful indeed.
[Even if it didn't really come in use for him here. Heh.]
Are such things common where you come from? It seems the number of those who come from worlds bearing magic and those that don't is rather evenly split among the refugees.
It isn't common knowledge if that's what you mean. But there are magicians, fairies, demons and angels and all of that stupid nonsense. Really, it's a bit bothersome I can handle most of this-[He gestured around them]-far better than that sort of thing.
[Stupid nonsense, says the guy who just had his magical book saved for him by an actual demon.]
Demons and angels? Goodness, you must come from quite the place, then! [He only knows one Angel and that's more than enough tbh.]
But for it to not be common knowledge-- could it be that most people are simply kept unaware of all of it? That sounds rather similar to my own world, actually. Though I imagine it's much easier keeping things such as demons a secret when most of the population can't even see them.
I don't know. From what I gather, other than all that supernatural rot, it's like a lot other people's Earths.
[He's stepping away from the tree, not trusting it's sense of boundaries.]
Well yes, I gather it is a bit of ignorance. I was honestly misinformed at first too. [He misses those days.] But yes. It doesn't help that they like to cheat and change form. Or brainwash people into treating them as honor students.
Fufu, very well! Now be a good boy and hold still.
[Because it's hard enough trying to aim for where to get this thing so he kills it nice and fast without having to deal with Prompto flailing around!]
[The serpent jumps higher and higher, each time Promto being brought down lower -- and then jerked back up into the air, like some kind of bizarre cat toy. But eventually, the beast jumps high enough, mouth open--]
[And bites!! Prompto's boot!!!]
[...but those razor-sharp rows of teeth don't sink in. It only bites just enough to hang there grossly, before it's spontaneously sliced in mid-air by nothing, lopping off the head and sectioning up the body like fresh sashimi.]
[So unless Prompto kicks it off, he's got a scary fish head for a boot now.]
[ Hold still! Right. So he'll just...dangle here while the serpent lunges for him, too. It's hard to resist instinct and not pull himself up and away when a set of razor-sharp teeth snaps at him like that, but he manages it. Some...of the time. Enough that he's hopefully not causing too much of a problem for Mephisto. The girlish yelps, however? Those can't be helped.
Mephisto is letting the serpent jump awfully close to him now, and Prompto has to ask himself (not for the first time) if it was a good idea to trust him. But that doesn't matter now. What matters is not getting eaten, so he pipes up with a panicked: ]
A-are you sure this is really -
[ ...The serpent catches his boot.
He freezes in midair, staring down aghast at the sight, waiting for the crunch of teeth and bone about to come - but it doesn't. Instead, the serpent is cleanly sliced through, its body dropped away with the head still affixed to his boot. So, that's a thing now.
...After a long moment, he glances over at Mephisto. ]
[Meanwhile this guy has been entirely too casual this whole time, snickering and not even trying to hide it whenever Prompto yelped. But now that he's made his catch, he "stands" where he's still floating above the water, giving Prompto a nice golfers clap for his efforts.]
My, and lucky, too! Had it caught any more of your leg in its throat, I might have cut clean through it by mistake!
[--he wouldn't, actually, his powers are pretty damn precise. But Prompto doesn't know that.]
[ He sure feels lucky right now, with a sea snake head attached to his foot. But at least he didn't lose some of his leg! It's all about how you look at things....
[He covers his mouth as he snickers and laughs, clearly making a strong effort not to cackle at Lance's expense -- even though he really really wants to. But he's "Faust" right now, so he has to show at least some restraint.]
[Oddly enough, the little dragons seemingly don't pay him any mind, harmlessly fluttering around him but never getting very close... which has far more to do with his wn powers repelling them as they try to than anything. Not that it'll be very apparent that that's the case.]
Oh, my! I don't think they appreciated that! Perhaps we would have been better off shooing them away first?
[Of course, true insult to injury is this: the berry may start sweet, but seeing as the dragon's personalities do tend to reflect the flavor of the berry, it has a sharp, bitter aftertaste that'll leave his mouth coated with a chalky dryness.]
[ lance turns his head to the side and spits out what he can of the berry, which is most, but unfortunately not enough to rid his mouth of the bitter taste. his expression sullen and sour, he doesn't even say anything as he gets back up to his feet, swatting at the little dragons that still attempt to bite and nip at his face. fortunately, he can put his helmet on and visor up... ]
Dude, if you're just gonna waste time with dumb pranks, then I'm gonna walk ahead of you.
[ not quite leaving him... but they don't have to socialize if this guy isn't feeling it. siccing rabid dragons on a person is a pretty big hint. ]
