What can I say? Old habits die hard... but I'll have you know, I have far better ways to spend my time these days than to sit around watching from the shadows.
[She's... not going to ask what. Because it's probably terrible. She takes another drink, instead.]
I guess if you're not gonna waste your time watching weird anime, then ya gotta find something else to do.
[His figurines, lost to the storm. She didn't want to know what other kind of merchandise he owned, the fact that he had those toys out on his desk was enough to know that there was probably a room full of crap like that somewhere in the mansion.]
[Go! Go! Fantastical Kyoko-chan! or whatever crap he had on his desk was not what she would call fine art. Of course, Shura wasn't exactly an expert, but she had some common sense.]
We got phones or something like that, right? I'm sure you'll find somethin' to entertain you 'fore long.
You just can't appreciate the inherent complexities of Magical Girl Momo-chan!
[HUFFS and takes a drink, don't remind him anime is dead.]
--but that's what I said, isn't it? You know, there was a time when I lived before anime even existed. Or any number of modern conveniences... if anything, the world down there is far more familiar to me than it will be to you.
Yer not gonna get all sentimental and crap on me, are ya?
[To be fair, she was pretty isolated from the modern world until Shiro took her in. It wasn't like Hachiro kept up with technology and she wasn't getting invited to spend the night over at a playmate's house to watch whatever kiddie show was popular. But really, she didn't want to listen to him ramble about the good ol' days or whatever.]
Rin said somethin' 'bout dragons, though. They the only kind of threat down there?
Just who do you think you're talking to? [...arguably, he's been pretty sentimental lately, but he's not going to be that way with Shura.]
But no. In fact, I wouldn't even say the dragons are much of a problem, with how they've been domesticated by the people of Wyver.
Though there doesn't seem to be anything like demons, the local flora and fauna are rather comparable in terms of the sort of mischief they can cause for those who come across them. The cities themselves are relatively safe, but it seems one should be careful when exploring beyond their walls.
[They are three beers in, he could very well start waxing nostalgic! Well, Shura will be finishing up her can while he speaks. This is information she probably needs to know and wants to get, but just how much of it was she going to remember?]
Eeh, that sounds like a pain.
[Though if it meant work, then by all means! For as much trouble being an exorcist was, it wasn't like she had too many other mundane job skills. A ehole new world of problems to learn, though. Yikes.
But now her can's empty, and she lifts it towards Mephisto, shaking it to show that there was nothing left.]
[Nah, he was camping on it a little. These beers may taste cheap, but given what he's figured out from living on the planet below, the alcohol tended to be a little stronger than usual -- the same is probably true for anything the Natha keep up here...]
[But he'll finish it off now, throwing it back to drink down the rest like a champ.]
[Not too much, the liar. Lying lying liar pants. If there was only a little left, he wouldn't have to chug it down like that. What, was he hoping that if took his sweet time that he could somehow win this contest??
She kicks at at his chair, hitting one of the legs with the toe of her boot. She only means to tap it, but she might be using a little more strength than she intended. Oops!]
[Now see, Mephisto was already leaning dangerously back in his chair, only the two back legs on the ground. And while normally, the chair would probably fall without him and leave him floating in the air, when she kicks it, it's just enough force to throw him off balance... and send him falling backwards to the ground.]
[At least the beer is empty by then, but he still lets out a very graceful squawk when he lands.]
But she doesn't feel much remorse when he hits the ground. First off, he should have been drinking faster. Second off, wasn't it common sense not to be leaning back in a chair like that?? So there aren't any apologies coming from Shura. But at least she'll lean over to the side, casually checking to see if there was any blood on the floor.]
Eh, you still there?
[She can't hold back a snicker at the sight of him on the floor.]
[HE LOOKS SO PISSY DOWN THERE flailing a little as he rolls off the chair to the side and onto his hands and knees.]
[...he shouldn't have done that, now the room is spinning.]
[Gonna just... grab the table... and slooowly pull himself back up to his feet. The chair floats back up and rights itself just fine -- his powers are intuitive enough that even while drunk, he can manage that easily enough, but... as for why he didn't just float himself back up, well--]
[Maybe the fact that he's swaying a little and clearly leaning against the table for balance holds the answer.]
[Heh. Heheh. Yeah, not going to even bother trying to keep a straight face. This was exactly the kind of thing she needed to see after everything that had happened over the last day or two. Mephisto drunk and fumbling.]
Nyeheh, getting a little tipsy, aren'tcha?
[She, of course, does not move from her chair. Because she knows better, though she's shifting just so, mostly out of the suspicion that he might try to get revenge.]
[Just that she could handle it better! And she'll demonstrate this by smoothly getting up from her chair, not even using the table to balance herself. To a sober eye, it's not hard to see that she isn't moving as gracefully as she would otherwise, but it's not bad for someone who's a relative lightweight. It's like she's had lots of experience pretending to be sober!]
[THAT'S NOT FAIR?? Why is he such a lightweight, this is horrible. If he had just gotten the chance to wait another 15 minutes or so, he'd already be sober again!!]
Just because you can stand doesn't mean anything! You knocked me over and made me dizzy! So you should at least try and walk in a straight line to be sure!
Oh really? Has your speech always been so sloppy, then?
[Mephisto got drunk in a pretty specific way... unless he was completely smashed, only his body really got drunk, making it hard to move and walk around. But just talking to him, you'd never guess. He might be a little more reactive right now -- but that wasn't that out of the ordinary for him.]
[Well, it wasn't like she really ever bothered to keep up any sort of pretense in his presence...]
Toldya before, we gotta have something ta judge. We can... damn, we need someone else to judge how straight we're walkin'... Nyeheh, mebbe race or somethin'?
[He'll cheat no matter what, but she at least had an advantage there by the look of him right now.]
You better not use any of your powers to cheat, 'kay?
[Not like that would stop him. Even if he was limited, in his state he might somewhere teleport into a wall, and that sounded like that would hurt. She holds up a hand, three fingers raised.]
On the count of three, righ'? One, two--three
[So, she didn't say anything about cheating herself, since she's taking off from the count of two. But she should really have been more careful. Mephisto's in her way, and shoving past him might not have been an issue sober, but he's still very solid, and ramming her shoulder into him as tries to overtake him does not have the desired effect of pushing him out of the way. No, far from it, since she's finding herself falling back towards the floor. Mayve he grabbed her on reflex, maybe she slipped on a puddle or something. Whatever happened, this was not a graceful fall.]
[So says the guy who cheated the last time he challenged someone to a race smh... but okay, he scrambles a little when she takes off first, jumping up despite his dizziness to get though the door before she does. His legs are a lot longer than hers, he can do this...!]
[Until he gets shoved, suddenly finding the world spinning significantly more than it was before. And so he reaches out for something to get his balance back -- only to find that something is a someone, and she's no more steady than he is! And so they both fall, Mephisto flat on his back and Shura right on top of him--]
[Which would be just lovely any other day, but in the struggle, she knees him right in the junk.]
[Of course she's going to struggle on the way down, she's not stupid. She still had a race to win! So when her knee slams right on up between his legs, she doesn't think much about it. Not until she realizes he's not moving like he should be under her, and that's awfully suspicious, all considering. Last time she was on top of him like this, he had something to say about it, but not now?
Fine, she can spare a quick look down. No blood on the floor, so why this reaction... oh. Shura coughs, pulling her knee away as she realizes its position relative to Mephisto's junk. Should she feel bad?]
S'fine, right? You probably weren't using that for anything, anyway.
--it's been getting plenty of use, I'll have you know!!
[He says, speaking two octaves higher than usual... also TMI!!!]
[He's going to try and push her off, which... might be a bit more forceful than usual, since he does still have that ridiculous demon strength on his side, and he'd really like to be sitting in a fetal position right now!!]
[...but, given their proximity, that means he pretty much just punched her in the boob to get her off of him.]
